LIVE FROM NEW YORK

For venues where I have already given a Kaleidoscope lecture
Price:
 $600

I'm a citiquilter wrapped up in the fabric of urban life. While ostensibly following my route from first quilt to last, this slide lecture stops along the way to shop in the Garment District, park a car urban style and glimpse a city-shaped birthday-party scavenger hunt.

SIMPLE QUILTS, COMPLEX FABRICS

SIMPLE QUILTS, COMPLEX FABRIC (Available Fall 2016)

This presentation promotes the idea that simple quilt patterns can be transformed into visual spectacles by using charismatic prints. Quilts and illustrations will demonstrate unique and essential design elements including the role of symmetry.

For years I've pored over snowflake photomicrographs as if they were moonscapes and I'm the one responsible for a safe landing. So far I haven't found any evidence of teensy frostbitten aliens, but I have concocted some design guidelines for piecing snowflakes I'm happy to share. They can't possibly be scientifically true, because we all know snowflakes aren't really made out of blue fabric, but they work for me.

SYMMETRY & SURPRISE: THE KALEIDOSCOPE AS DESIGN INSPIRATION

Price:
$600

KALEIDOSCOPE - the very word promises surprise and magic, change and chance. Exploding with visual excitement, a kaleidoscopic design organizes an abundance of color and shape into a complex, coherent and unique whole. This slide lecture traces my evolving quilt series in which the multifaceted, luminous and random nature of a kaleidoscope is explored on a quilt's flat surface.
